The Autumn Tag

I love a good tag post, and whenever I see one, I just jump on board.

1. Coffee - What is your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks or any other coffee shop? I adore a bog standard Hot Chocolate with Cream and Marshmallows from Costa, no extras just nice and simple.

2. Accessories - What do you opt for, scarves, boots, or gloves? I love boots, nice big chunky ones to wear with thick socks for going out and walking Ted.

3. Music - What's your favourite music to listen to during autumn? I don't change what I'm listening to during the Autumn, I'm just loving a lot of music at the moment - Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, George Ezra to name but a few.

4. Perfume - What's your favourite scent for this time of the year? I don't have any that I reach for more then others but I have been loving Burberry Weekend or Lacoste Inspiration for the last couple of weeks.

5. Candles - What scents will you be burning this season? I'm currently burning my way through a Yankee Candle that my mum bought as a house warming present, but I've just bought Spiced Orange and Fireside Treats to get me through Autumn & Winter.

6. What do you love the most about autumn? I love being able to get wrapped up warm and go exploring with the boy and Ted. We try and go out on the weekends and walk in different places, plus I get to take photo's in lots of lovely places.

7. Favorite makeup look? More brows and golds with liner and a berry lip - I'm trying to remember to wear lipstick but I'm rubbish at it!

8. What are you looking forward to the most in autumn? Getting out and about and then coming home, lighting a candle and watching films on the sofa under a blanket.

So there we have it, all my answers to the Tag. I tag anyone who wants to do this, link me below if you do it.

The Britishtag

I've seen this tag floating around; mostly on YouTube but a few bloggers have started doing it so I thought I would give it a go.

1) How many cups of tea do you have a day? How many sugars? I am absolute Tea addict, I love tea, and I actually have gallons of the stuff. I must go through for five big mugs a day; it is a requirement for getting up in the morning plus making it through the day with the kids. I don't actually have any sugar in my tea because I find it too sweet but I do have quite weak with a lot of milk but I have to be able to drink it quickly at work.

2) Favourite part of your roast? I love a roast and I think it's on the best meals that we have here and in Great Britain. My favourite part if I had to pick would be probably Yorkshire Puddings, there's something about filling them with gravy and saving them till last! Other than that I do actually like roast parsnips, I know that they're not everyone's favourites but they are mine, there is just something about them!

3) Favourite dunking biscuit? That's easy one - rich tea biscuits if there aren't any rich teas then I would probably go with a ginger but biscuit.

4) Favourite quintessentially British pastime? I don't know if you call it a past time but it would probably be drinking tea. I don't know if that's a past time but it's the only one I can think of other then having a drink in a pub or going for a walk in the countryside...no idea... Next question.

5) Favourite word? This is a really random word it's one of my favourites to say that I can't spell it and its flibbertigibbet. It basically means someone who is a bit whimsical in old English, I just like saying it sounds great. As well as that I love saying discombobulated!

6) Cockney rhyming slang? Being a northern I don't really use Cockney rhyming slang, any I do know come from TV and films but I know that being a 'tea leaf' is a thief and 'apples and pears' mean stairs and that's about it.

7) Favourite sweet? My favourite sweets are probably wine gums, I love them but I only like the red, orange and purple ones but I don't like the green or yellow ones so the boy has to put up with them always being left - I'm the same with fruit pastilles.

8) What would your pub be called? I will probably have to name it after being a teacher and so call it ' The Teachers Inn' or maybe name it after Ted and call it 'The Dog House' or 'Ted's House'.

9) No1 British person? Number one British person probably have to be the Queen as she is very much an icon and is also very funny on Twitter. Other than that it would have to be John Cleese or any other actors from Monty Python or Rowan Atkinson.

10) Favourite shop? The one that probably takes most of my money would be Boots, after that I would say Topshop or New Look.

11) What British song pops into your head? As a massive fan of Britpop as a kid I would have to say that Spice Girls or a bit of Madness can't beat baggy trousers or even Queen 'Don't stop me now is one of the best anthems ever.

12) Marmite? Just no!!

There are my answers to the tag, this was quite fun to do! I don't know how British they make me but this is who I am - do you agree with any of my answers?

Advent Door 10 - Sweater Weather Tag

Sweater weather
Image weheartit.com
Woohoo - Door 10, that means 15 days to go! School is starting to get very Xmassy now; I love this time of year! I've seen this tag on quite a few blogs; I can't remember who started it but still its fun!

1. Favourite candle scent?

I love warm, berry scented candles during the cold weather - I get most of mine from Ikea, the Tindra Berry candles are great, plus really well priced!

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

I'm a massive tea drinker, as a teacher it’s the only thing that gets me through the day a lot of the time. However when it starts to get colder, I love a good hot chocolate, with cream and marshmallows. I love the Cadbury Options in Chocolate Orange.

3. What's the best fall memory you have?

I don't have it as a memory because I was too little, however I know from talking to my family, when I was little I used to think that autumn was what the leaves were called when they fell off the trees, so I used to run through the park near our house asking my Grandma to play in the autumn with me! I still love walking through the leaves now, especially when the piles are really deep and you can kick them about!

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?

Dark lips are something I like a lot. I'm getting better with liner but lips are so easy, they add so much drama to a look very quickly, plus they can pull an outfit from day to night really quickly.

5. Best fragrance for fall?

I reach for Burberry Weekend a lot at this time, as well as CK Shock. I love the warming scents.

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?

Thanksgiving has been and gone now - we don't celebrate thanksgiving but if we did then I would love the roast turkey with stuffing, I love a good roast dinner!

7. What is autumn weather like where you live?

Autumn/Winter here is normally very cold and wet, however it’s been quite dry and crisp. I love the clear, sunny days you get when it’s cold but being wrapped up makes it nice to be outside.

8. Most worn sweater?

I have a white jumper from Topshop that has pink speech marks on it - I love it as it’s quite a long jumper so is nice and snuggly, plus I can wear it with disco pants or jeans and it covers my bottom.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?

Illamasqua Boosh is one I've picked quite a lot because it’s a shiny black that goes with so many different toppers - it makes a great base for sparkles!

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?

Jumping in Leaf Piles for sure. It’s just so much more fun!!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?

Definitely Skinny Jeans. I would wear them a lot more than Leggings and they are perfect for dressing up and down.

12. Combat boots or Uggs?

I love big, chunky combat boots, layered with chunky socks, these are my favourite, I have a pair of walking boots which I wear a lot at this time with chunky socks.

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

Bleaurgh - nope!

14. Favourite fall TV show?

Made in Chelsea is my go to, but I love all the documentaries that are on at the moment - my inner geek is happy to stay in!

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?

I'm loving Bastille at the moment, plus Lily Allen for the John Lewis Advert.

So there it is my answers to the Sweater Tag! Link me up if you've done the tag :) xx

The Autumn Tag

Hello, Autumn
@Weheartit

I've seen this on a couple of blogs & love a good tag post so thought I would give this a go:

For Autumn, what is your...

1.  Favourite thing about it?  Chunky Cardigans, Socks & Boots, Layers - I love pulling out all my jumpers and starting to layer them again, dresses with a thick knit jumper and socks with boots!

2.  Favourite drink?  Costa Hot Chocolate - I love nothing more then curling up in a sofa in Costa with a hot chocolate!

3.  Favourite scent/candle?  Berry Scents at the minute - the berry flavoured ones from IKEA are what I currently have burning as I write this.

4.  Best lipstick?  Topshop Wicked - A deep plumpy red, I adore for a more vampy lip with most autumn colours.

5.  Go to moisturiser?  Origins Make a Difference +, as I have oily/dehydrated skin this is enough hydration at night without being too oily and upsetting my skin.

6.  Go to colours for the eyes?  Browns & Golds for now, although I'm tempted by trying out the reds and plums I've seen recently.

7.  Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?  London Grammar, Bastille, The 1975, really love that style of music - it doesn't change all year round.

8.  Favourite outfit to wear (i.e. boots & a scarf combo)?  Tea Dress, Socks, Boots, Leather Jacket and beanie hat - this will be my go to for work & weekend this year (maybe not the hat for work)

9.  Autumn treat?  I've fallen in love with a pair of boots so I'm on the hunt for a couple of good pairs, if I can ever find them in stock again!

10.  Favourite place to be? At home, curled up in my corner of the sofa with a cup of tea & a good book - I need to read more books instead of looking at a screen all the time!

There you have it - I love Autumn! I tag everyone who read this and if you write your own then please leave your link below or tweet me the link! Don't forget to head over to Makeup-Pixi3's blog to check out the original post. What's your favourite thing about Autumn? xx

TAG: Bad Beauty Habits - What are yours?

Afternoon lovelies, Thursday already :)

I've never done a tag post before but talking to Lucy from Lucywrites (check out her blog, so cute!) about doing them at the weekend got me thinking and so I decided I might as well give them a go.

I picked this one up from Blair Fowler's Youtube (juicystar07)where she discussed her Bad Beauty Habits and it got me wondering what mine would be!

  • Sleeping with my makeup on - I don't always do this but sometimes I forget and just think it will be ok but at somepoint this will come back and bite me hard and my skin will look awful.
  • Exercising with a face of makeup - I exercise in the evening and so often get home from work and forget to take it off, it would be so easy to run a face wipe over my face but I'm lazy :S
  • Picking at my lips and spots - I have a really bad habit of not being able to leave spots and dry bits on my lips alone, especially when I'm stressed out
I probably have more but these are the big ones that I often do and always feel guilty about! I'm trying to change these but its hard when they are habit!

What are your bad beauty habits? If you do this tag then send me your link in the comments or on Twitter (@KnickersanNails)

Thanks for reading xx

5 minute face - summer addition

Morning all, where has the sun gone?!

I saw this post over on Dainty Dolly Mix's blog and thought that it looked quite a nice easy one that I could do. I have a very different router in the summer to the winter so this is what I put on most days in the summer!

Products
  • Benefit You Rebel tinted moisturiser with SPF 15
  • Benefit You Rebel Lite tinted moisturiser with SPF 15
  • Benefit Erase Paste in No2
  • Benefit Georgia powder box
  • Sleek storm palette
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
  • Benefit Dallas
  • Boots 17 Falsifeye Mascara
  • Inka Mineral Eyeliner

I really do use a lot of Benefit products, but I love them, to me they were always high end products when I was a poor, uneducated teen (now I know better!) however I really love them and they last for ages!

I like to mix the You Rebel's together to create a custom shade, I find it's better for my skin tone, and it makes the tubes last longer (or so I like to think!)

I use the Sleek palette daily, mostly the neutral shades, as well as using it for my eyebrows.

By the time I've put all this on, I think I'm nearer 10 minutes then 5. I tend to not put anything on my lips bar boring Vaseline but that's just me!

I'd love to see what products you use for your five minute face, put your links in the comments box so that I can see!
