A Day Out in Highgate Village

Today has been the first Saturday where the boy & I haven't spent the day house hunting or doing anything house related. So we packed up a rucksack with water bottles and jumped on a train to explore London.

A few weeks back, the lovely Mel from http://www.mediamarmalade.com mentioned a book her boy had got for Xmas, filled with lots of hidden villages around London. Intrigued, I bought a copy & we opened on a random page & headed there. Today we went to Highgate village.

Highgate is on the Northern line so it's fairly easy to get to, just after Camden. The main Highstreet is a 10min walk up hill from the station but it's well worth it.

We explored the shops along the Highstreet, popping into the Bookstore for a quick browse, losing a bit of time in the vintage shops & drooling over the cakes in the tea shop.

It started to get very windy so we popped into The Angel Inn to have some lunch & a sit down - we both chose to have pork & chorizo burgers & chips - cheat day all round!

After lunch we went for another wander, heading down to the cometary in search of the grave Karl Marx, sadly we missed the closing time by 10 mins so peered in through the bars of the fence, as the sun was setting the light was gorgeous on the graves all covered in Ivy, I need to head back & visit during the day.

We walked back up to the Highstreet and headed to one if the tea rooms for a brew and a scone, it was well needed to warm up, however I could have eaten everything in there!

After that it was home time, walking through rows if Edwardian town houses felt like we had stepped back in time before returning to the train station and heading home.

It's nice spending time just exploring the area that we live in, normally we head just to the main 'tourist' areas but we will be heading out more - time to pick another location from the book!

Where else should we explore in London? Xx

January '14 Empties

January has been a good month for empties, I don't think I've ever used up as many as I have done this month! I doubt there will be this many any other month.

I've used up:
- SO remarkable Mango Body Lotion
- Umberto Giannini Over Night Hair Treatment
- Virgin Vie Body Lotion x2
- Bayliss & Harding Bath Cream
- Treacle Moon Bath & Shower Gel
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara
- Mememe Fat Cat Mascara
- Seventeen Photoflawless Primer
- Holland & Barrett Iron Tablets
- Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation
- La Roche Posay Astringent Lotion
- Origins Make a Difference + Moisturiser

Out of all of those, I'm gutted about no longer having the Benefit foundation as well as the Origins Moisturiser, however I wont be replacing them as I have plenty of others that I will be using up first.

What bits have you been using up this month? Have you tried any of these products? xx

Make Up - 5 Lipsticks

Topshop, Rimmel, Revlon, MUA Lipstick Swatches

I'm terrible at wearing lipstick - I own loads of lip products however they very rarely get used, I always forget about them over the course of the day and they then spend weeks rolling around the bottom of my handbag. So I've made it my mission to try and use 5 different colours over the course of the week, I need to get more use out of them as they just live in my box, unused and unloved.

So this weeks lipsticks tat I've picked are:
- Topshop Lip Crayon in Coy
- Revlon Lipbutter in Cotton Candy
- MUA Lipstick in 04
- Topshop Lipstick in Secret Admirer
- Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial

Some gorgeous colours that need to be shared, they are just sitting in the box. I'm doing my best wearing these, I will wear them more often!

What do you think of the colours? Any tips for remembering to wear lipstick? xx

NOTD - Rimmel Space Dust in Moon Walking

I've had a week off nail polish, more due to having no time to paint my nails but it was nice to apply some last night! I picked up this Rimmel Space Dust way back before Xmas, but never got round to using it so I thought as the weather is a bit naff I would cheer us all up with some sparkle!

Space Dust is a Liquid Sand style polishes so its a very thick polish but spreads evenly over the nail. Moon Walking is a gorgeous lilac and silver glitter mix. One layer will give a lovely, light lilac, two coats and you've got a much deeper purple which is fully opaque.

The finish is sparkly but a bit rough, think coloured sand paper, but a quick coat of clear polish will soon sort that out if you can't cope with the texture.

For £3.99, Space Dust is a fun way to play with your nails, instead of splashing out on the more expensive OPI versions!

What do you think? A fan of them or a passing craze? xx

Evening lovelies!

Another Sunday night, sitting here having spent the day marking 44 books, writing two weeks worth of plans and clearing out 3bin bags worth of clothes - its been a busy Sunday!

So this weeks make up picks have been chosen, photographed and now the time has come to share them with y'all :)

Face:
- SEVENTEEN Matte Foundation - In the old packaging, I'm on a mission to get this all used up!
- Bourjois Bronzing Primer
- MUA Blusher in Bonbon

Eyes & Brows:
