My Make up Bag #5

Some times with blogging you just find yourself not really wanting to sit down and write about the things you have but a quick refresh with some new bits from Boots and the odd blogsale and I can't wait to get writing again! Plus I had a crap week at school, lots of things went wrong so I a lot few new bits were obviously needed!

For this weeks base I've picked an old favourite, Maybelline's Superstay 24hr Foundation as I need a bit more coverage at the, more of a confidence boost then anything. Concealer not in the picture is the usual Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer although I am on the hunt for a new one as I'm finding it a bit cakey at the moment. Now spring has almost sprung, I want to add a bit of warmth back in before I start reaching for the fake tan so in my Boots splurge I picked up Soap & Glory's Solar Powder after reading lots of reviews. For a pop of brightness I picked up my first ever Tarte Amazon Clay blush from a blog sale, the aptly named Blushing Bride, it's my new love.

Onto eyes and this week I'm just going to play with Soap & Glory's Supercat black liner, I'm always trying to master the perfect black line. Eye shadow will probably be different each day, but I'm tempted to try out the Bourjois Colourband, I've picked up three so keep a look out for them. Lashes are from my latest newbie, Benefit's Rollerlash. I've loved using this since I used the sample from the Elle magazine last month so I had to pick up the full size. Not pictured is my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, can't live without it.

I'm sure these will get mixed up day to day as well, I've got a few other bits and pieces I want to use but I will report back.

Anywhoo, now to get on with some more blogging, its so nice to have my mojo back!

What bits are you using this week? Have you tried any of my picks? Leave your comments in the box below!

My Make Up Bag #3

I've had a stinking cold for most of this week so the thought of putting make up on hasn't been high on my list - now that’s going away I feel more like making an effort then I have done last week.

This week I've picked out lots of bits as well as a newbie. For base I've gone for a combination of Benefit's Porefessional and Big Easy in Light. To hide my poor, red nose I'm still loving Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer. A quick rummage in my stash and I've found my favourite cream blush, Topshop's Cream Blush in Head over Heels, I'd forgotten about this and teamed with Hoola to add a bit of warmth and colour back into my skin.

Brows have been re-shaped thanks to a weekend trip to the threading ladies in town; does anyone else feel human when their brows are back in shape? To keep them looking good, I'm using Anastasia Dip Brow in Soft Brown as it is my current favourite! Liner is Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Coco Bean. Lashes are thanks to Benefit Roller Lash mascara - I've tried this over the weekend thanks to the sample from Elle and I am currently impressed.

The week looks like the quiet before the storm of parents evening and class assemblies so I'm looking forward to getting to wear nice make up.

What have you picked this week?

January Favourites 2015

Ted's clearly not impressed with my choices!

January - the month has gone so fast, I feel like I haven't achieved anything that I wanted to from my January to do list but it's been a very busy month. My favourites this month are a real eclectic mix of all sorts of bits and pieces.

First up is my New Look Scarf. I love it because it's huge, I can wrap it around me twice or just wear over my coat. Next up is my 1l Water Bobble Bottle. I'm trying really hard to keep drinking lots of water at the minute and this helps as it filters tap water plus I'm more aware of how much I'm drinking, I need to invest in a smaller one for in my bag day to day. A new favourite for this month is the Khiels Midnight Recovery Serum, my lovely little sister bought me this for my birthday along with some other bits and pieces. I've used it every night since I got it and its love, my skin feels amazing but there will be a full review soon about this. I'm also loving Alpha H Liquid Gold, I use this twice a week in the evening and it makes such a difference, another one for a full review in the future. Final bit of skin care and it’s my beloved Soap & Glory Youthful Rejuvenating Eye Cream, this is my second pot and I love it!

Onto some other bits, I'm loving the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Complete Nutrition Shampoo, this leaves my hair so soft, and it smells ah-mazing. For makeup I'm constantly reaching for the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, I like the foundation but this is great, it blends easily and covers a multitude of sins. Last bit of make-up and it’s the Anastasia Dip Brow; this stuff has tamed my unruly brows and holds them in some sort of normal human shape.

So there you have it, my favourites for the month of January. I hope you've had a good month; I'd love to know what you've loved this month?

Review - Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Eye Cream

Anyone who knows me knows that I am rubbish when it comes to sticking to a routine - I'm good for the first couple of weeks and then I get lazy, I'm always trying to do 100 other things that I then forget the little tasks and miss them, using an eye cream is one of them!

I picked up the Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Eyecream after reading a review in a magazine. It has some fantastic reviews, great ingredients and cute packaging so I had high hopes and it hasn't let me down!

Make Yourself Youthful is a thick, super moisturising eye cream that is super hydrating. You don't need a great deal of product each time.

I noticed almost next day how quickly this had an impact on my skin. It appeared to be more hydrated, those pesky lines were lessoned and my eye area looks 10 times better! So much better that I've actually stuck to using this for nearly 2months now.

So, if you're in the market for a new eye cream, I cannot rave about this enough, plus its on offer in Boots at the moment! Head over to Boots to pick this up for £14.

Have you tried this? Any other products from Soap & Glory I need to try?  xx

Review - Soap & Glory Crazy, Sexy Kohl Smokin' Dandy Plum, Aubersheen

Review - Soap & Glory Crazy, Sexy Kohl Superblack,Grapevine, Cocoa Bean, Aquabat, Bluemymind Swatch

I know it's a bit late for reviews of gift sets, but I can't resist with this set.

Just after Xmas, a couple of days after the sales had really kicked off, I braved town and headed straight to Boots. I wanted to have a look really and ended up picking up a couple of bits. My favourite bit was this set from Soap & Glory. I love the makeup from S&G, I have done ever since it came out, so to get all of these was great!

Crazy, Sexy Kohl set contains 3 eye shadow colours and 5 kohl liners.

The eye colours: Smokin', Dandy Plum and Aubersheen are really good quality, super pigmented and lasted really well with a primer. I was really please with how easy the colours were to use, the blend easily and give great colour payoff - the only downside is that there is some fall down.

The liners: Super black, Grapevine, Cocoa Bean, Aquabat and Blue my Mind, are 5 fantastic kohl liners. They are super soft and creamy, blend really well and stayed put which is really important for me as no one wants panda eyes. My favourite of the colours is Cocoa Bean as its the perfect brown liner, I could wear this every day.

This set for me has solidified my love for S&G, I can't fault it at all. You can still pick the set up from the Soap & Glory's website as well as being able to pick up Super Black & Cocoa Bean kohl liners from Boots for £5.

I now can't wait to hit up Boots for some more make up bits and pieces.

What do you think about Soap & Glory make up? Any recommendations? xx

July/August Empties

More empty things to chuck, does anyone else feel like a hoarder storing empty pots?

Oh well, on to the products.

*Soap & Glory Sugar Crush - Love, I was gutted when I finished this, I will repurchase.

*John Frieda Full Repair Conditioner - Another love, but time for a change.

*L'Oreal Micellar Solution - its ok, not something I will pick up again out of choice, back in love with Bioderma.

*Anatomicals Body Scrub - This was in a Glossybox and it was a nice product to use, it smelt nice and was a good scrub, glad to have tried it, I might pick up some more bits from Anatomicals in the future.

*Benefit Triple Performing Facial Emulsion - I really like this, its a good moisturiser, plus I love the packaging, I would pick up again at another time.

*Lush Bubble Wand - I can't remember which wand this was but I loved it, I love the Lush bubble wands, time to stock up on some more!

*Premae Face Tonique - Another Glossybox sample, it was ok however I've found another one to use from La Roche Posay so I've switched.

So there we have it, my empties of the last two months - what bits have you used up this month? xx

Review - Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub

This purchase I blame Zoe from Zoella for. I remember watching one of her videos where she raved about Sugar Crush, and the way she described it made pop it on the wishlist.

Many months later when I needed a new exfoliator I picked it up, and its now love. Some days I don't know whether to eat this or scrub myself with it, it smells amazing!

Sugar Crush is a thick paste made up of Brown Sugar & Macadamia Grains that really work to slough off dead skin cells and fake tan quickly. This added to the Sweet Lime & Almond oil makes it smell so lush, I want to eat it! It smells like a tropical island in a pot.

I'm racing through this massive pot but I've picked up another as their always on offer.

This product will live in my bathroom for many moons, out of all the Soap & Glory scrubs, this is one of my favourites :)

What do you think? Have you tried Sugar Crush? xx

A whole lot of hauling - Boots & Superdrug

Evening lovelies, hope your enjoying your weekend.

I've got a mammoth haul to show you as I earnt some over time and it would have been a crime not to spend it! Problem is its quite big and so I've split it up into smaller posts so that it's not too picture heavy.

First up are my recent acquisitions from Boots and Superdrug. I popped into Boots on Thursday after work and today as I was on the hunt for the Soap & Glory Sit Tight XS Intense as I love the original and wanted to try it out, but I couldn't resist some other bits.

I picked up a real mix of items, some that I needed and others that I didn't but oh well.

In Boots, the Models Own stand called to me, and they were running a buy two products and get a nail art pen. I couldn't resist choosing two of the Head Kandi polishes. I picked Headonist and Beach Party to go with the Baleric Cool I picked up a couple of weeks ago, these are really bright colours that will be great for the summer!

I also wandered into Superdrug and did a little dance of joy when I saw that they had a new Essie stand. I picked up Cute as a Button, Turquoise & Caicos and . I haven't tried any of the Essies yet, but I've heard great things so can't wait!

In Boots I also picked up some essentials and other bits. I bought the new Soap & Glory Intense XS as I swear by the original Sit Tight so I can't wait to see what happens.

I picked up some more Simple face was, as well as some Nivea Toner and as its 3 for 2 I picked up the hand gel for in my handbag. I needed the eyelashes for a night out soon and love the way they Kimberly lashes look.

And finally I spent some of my Boots points on Benefits new Sun Beam, I've seen some pictures of the launch so can't wait to use this as I love the Highbeam and Moonbeam products so can't wait to try this out!

So there's part one of the haul, I can't wait to show you the rest, as well as getting some reviews of the products written up.

What have you been hauling this weekend? xx

Guest Blog - Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub

Afternoon lovelies, hope your enjoying your week, can't believe its already half way through half term and I have so much to do still! February is all about not spending money for me which is really hard at the moment! So I reached out to a few bloggers about their favourite low cost items, and its Kelsey's turn today!

Hey everyone,

My name is Kelsey; I have a blog called Penelope’s beauty obsessions that is all about beauty and hair products, with reviews, hauls, swatches and more. You can also find me on twitter under @MissPenelope90

Today I’m going to review a soap and glory product for the lovely Sarah for her Frugal February posts.
So here goes:

 The Breakfast Scrub.

Exfoliator with organic cupuacu bio scrubs, bananas, almond and honey extracts. Features a great new maple fragrance.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Scoop out a handful and rub it between your palms, then scrub in circles onto damp skin until you feel smoother.
(From their website)
I brought it for £9.45.

This product smell delicious, it’s got oats, bananas, honey, and maple syrup in here so it smells good enough to eat, and it’s just as good on your skin, leaves your skin so soft and silky, and it’s got big bits of sugar and oats in it so you can differently feel that it is working.

I use it every time I go for a shower and just before I put on fake tan because it gets rid of all the dead skin and softens rough areas like knees and elbows. I’ve read a couple of reviews that say they put it on their face as a Exfoliator but I haven’t tried this yet. It is a huge tub and you don’t need to use a lot, I’ve used this 4 times and barely touched the surface.
I love this; it’s my go to product when I’m in the shower.

Have you tried this product before? Let me know in the comments below
See you soon
xx

Thank you Kelsey for a great post about a great product, definitely low cost but worth it! Pop over to her blog here and share her some love!

If you want to guest post then please let me know!

Thanks for reading xx

(They’re like tiny, dehydrated little sponges that expand when you apply them onto your lips. It also contains a rare circulation enhancing ingredient that gives your lips a little ‘electric’ buzz, to move more blood around the area, creating the swelling effect mentioned above).
Calm One, Calm All™ A double function deluxe formula bubble bath soak. With a built in body lotion and a moisture magnetising skin conditioner you’ll be smoothed while you’re soothed! Indulge in the wonderful fragrances of fresh bubbled bergamot, strawberries and mandarin with floral and fruity mid notes, and musk, amber and warm vanilla.

It's now sold out on line but head to your local shop as they have literally stocked them up with palettes of the things, the one in my local Boots was stacked as tall as me and I'm 5ft 9!

Advent Door 9 - Soap and Glory Scrub Your Nose in it

Evening all, second post as I forgot to schedule yesterdays!

I'm on a mission this winter to improve the condition of my skin. I've cut down on all the rubbish I eat and drink and tried to pick up my skin care routine again. This is something that I love to use to freshen up my skin when it's feeling really greasy and clogged up.

Soap and Glory's Scrub Your Nose in it is a fresh minty scented facial scrub with quite fine exfoliating grains in it so it's gentle enough to use on a regular basis to remove dead skin. It also works well as a mattifying face mask, left on for a few minutes to dry up excess oil.

As I have a Clarisonic, I don't often use this as a scrub, but I do use it twice a week to sort out my shiny skin, or just as a treat in the morning before work - it makes you an attractive shade of green!!!

I've had this ages and hardly need to use much as its quite thick, so an inexpensive great!

You can get this from Boots for £7.50 for 125ml, and I really think everyone should give it a try, so why not stop by Boots and pick some up, especially as its on 3 for 2 at the moment!

So what do you think, let me know

Advent Door 6 - Soap and Glory Hand Food

Evening lovelies, hope you've had a good day.

Winter is possibly the worse time of the year for me in terms of my skin, especially on my hands. Each year I search for a solution to my poor, dry hands which often cracks which are sore.

I've been trying a few different things but I often have this in my bag.

Soap and Glory's Hand Food is a gorgeously thick hand cream that coats the skin really well, leaving it really well moisturised. It sinks into skin really quickly without being sticky or slippery.

For my the issue is often how much it stings if my hands are really bad and often the heavily scented creams are the worst, however this is scented but doesn't sting, leaving my hands nicely fragranced.

You get 125ml for £5.00 and a little bit does go a long way to protecting mine and your hands against winter!

So here you go, what are your thoughts on this?

Soap and Glory Clean on Me

Morning lovelies, its Monday which means one week closer to Christmas, eekk!!

As its getting closer to the Xmas season I'm looking forward to the box of goodies that Soap and Glory bring out every year at Boots. I've had the box sets for that last two years and couldn't believe how much they were selling for on Ebay last year!

This year their bringing out their biggest set yet and I am incredibly excited about this!

One of the products in the Big Splendour set is their huge bottle of Clean on Me cream shower gel.

You get a whopping 500ml of creamy shower gel with the distinctive Soap and Glory smell. This bottle has lasted for ages, literally 5months with two of us using it (yes even the boyfriend loves it!)

A really gentle shower gel that lathers up really well, leaving the skin clean and ready for moisturiser. And your skin doesnt have to wait long for moisturiser as it comes with a body lotion built in, leaving you clean and moisturised in one easy move!

For those of us who like an extra 5minutes in bed in the morning this is the ideal product.

You can get the 500ml product from Boots of £5.11 and its also currently part of the 3 for 2. Or you can get it as part of the Big Splendour kit which is currently £60 on the Boots website but I'm sure they will soon be offering it as a star product!

What do you think, have you tried and loved this product like me?

Soap and Glory Some Like it Hot Thermal Scrub

Afternoon lovelies, I hope your all safe and warm ready to watch some fireworks!

Like most girls I have a lot of different products in my bathroom, i haven't bought any new shower gel since last Christmas!

Going through my stash I found my tube of Soap and Glory
Thermal body scrub called Some Like It Hot. I like the idea that for winter I can have a scrub that heats up on my skin so I know it's really working!

You have to shake the bottle as the mixture does separate, but what you get is a baby pink cream with blue exfoliating particles. It's quite a chunky scrub, and so best to not use it every day as it can be quite sharp!

The moment you put onto your skin you can feel it heat up, this let's you know that the product is working! When the product starts to cool, most of the exfoliating particles have gone and you are left with a nice moisturiser!

This is the first thermal scrub I've tried but it's nice to use on a cold evening! The smell is a gorgeous vanilla, which is quite a light fragrance that just lingers for a few hours!

So here it is, Some Like it Hot Thermal Body Scrub, it's lovely! For £7.92 you get 200ml, and a little goes a long way. Currently on 3 for 2 at Boots.

What do you think, have you tried this before?

Soap and Glory Touch & Glow

Afternoon all, hope your well and enjoying what is left of the weekend.

I've been trying to have a bit of a clear out of my stash and find what products I've stashed away and need to use up. One of the products I found is Soap and Glory's Glow Job.

Now I know that this picture shows that my tube is not Glow Job, however this is the same product, just with a new name ( this is an assumption, I'm not 100% sure of this)

As I've recently run out of my favourite foundation, I've been trying to find a way of cutting down on the products on I have and use. This is one of those products that can fall into two categories.

First up its a moisturiser. As a moisturiser it is great. It looks quite white when you first get it out of the tube, but it does sink in very quickly, leaving a dewy finish without looking greasy.

Secondly, its a bronzer. Inside the moisturise there are tiny white beads. When these bust, they contain a small amount of bronzer which adds colour to the skin without being over powering. It's easily blended into the skin, leaving a nice glow rather then an obvious tan.

One flaw in this is that the beads are not distributed evenly through the product, and so you can get some product with no beads in, and in others you might get too much.

The smell of this is amazing! It smells like oranges, very fresh and fruity without being too much.

For £9.00 you get 75ml which is quite expensive for a moisturiser, but as its two products in one then really its only £4.50 a product!

I think this is one that is more of a summer time product, or one for those who only want a very very light coverage from a product. You can get this from Boots, and I'm sure that it will be in a lot in the gift sets that will be available around Christmas.

So what do you think? A good multi product?
