New Look Wishlist - August

New Look Wishlist - August

Woohoo - finally feel like I want to blog so here I am!

So I start a new job in September, still in teaching but back with the year 6's  as well as being a Phase leader - basically I'm going to be in charge of both years 5 & 6 so I have to learn to manage people which is a bit scary but I hope that I will pick this up quickly!

With that in mind, I need a bit of a wardrobe revamp - I've got lazy too comfortable at my previous school and was happy to just throw on a smock dress and leggings, but this isn't the impression I want to give off at the start of a new job so I need to pick up some new bits.

I know for my shape and height that I look best in pencil or A-line skirts as they look smart without being too dressed up. I like to pick skirts that are either plain or have a simple pattern so that I can wear a top with a pattern. I love the black pencil skirt as its quite structured but would look great with the tops tucked in, especially the shirts.

Tops are really important, especially when working in a school, I have boobs like most girls, but the kids in my class do not need to be looking down my top when I'm working with them (especially Y6 boys!) so I try and wear higher necked items or tops that I can wear a little vest top underneath! The roll neck top isn't something I would normally reach for but I just liked it! I have spotted another one somewhere else so that might pop up soon in another wish list.

As for shoes, I'm all about chunky heels as they are super comfy and I can move around the classroom easily, plus you can't go wrong with chunky Chelsea boots!

So those are my picks from New Look at the moment - there are loads more bits that I want so keep a look out for some more wish lists coming up soon.

Also, I'm thinking of doing an NQT series as I'm going to be mentoring an Newly Qualified Teacher come September - is this something anyone wants to read?

January Favourites 2015

Ted's clearly not impressed with my choices!

January - the month has gone so fast, I feel like I haven't achieved anything that I wanted to from my January to do list but it's been a very busy month. My favourites this month are a real eclectic mix of all sorts of bits and pieces.

First up is my New Look Scarf. I love it because it's huge, I can wrap it around me twice or just wear over my coat. Next up is my 1l Water Bobble Bottle. I'm trying really hard to keep drinking lots of water at the minute and this helps as it filters tap water plus I'm more aware of how much I'm drinking, I need to invest in a smaller one for in my bag day to day. A new favourite for this month is the Khiels Midnight Recovery Serum, my lovely little sister bought me this for my birthday along with some other bits and pieces. I've used it every night since I got it and its love, my skin feels amazing but there will be a full review soon about this. I'm also loving Alpha H Liquid Gold, I use this twice a week in the evening and it makes such a difference, another one for a full review in the future. Final bit of skin care and it’s my beloved Soap & Glory Youthful Rejuvenating Eye Cream, this is my second pot and I love it!

Onto some other bits, I'm loving the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Complete Nutrition Shampoo, this leaves my hair so soft, and it smells ah-mazing. For makeup I'm constantly reaching for the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, I like the foundation but this is great, it blends easily and covers a multitude of sins. Last bit of make-up and it’s the Anastasia Dip Brow; this stuff has tamed my unruly brows and holds them in some sort of normal human shape.

So there you have it, my favourites for the month of January. I hope you've had a good month; I'd love to know what you've loved this month?

Advent Door 17 - WIWT Check & Pleather

4 days to go until we break up for Xmas, I cannot wait! This term has been a long, old slog!

So this is what I wore to work the other week, looking back at these pictures I realise I need to get back to the gym, I'm feeling very squidgy at the moment :(

I picked up this dress from Primark the other week; I love tartan and check at the moment so this was a good choice for me. I teamed it with my cut out boots from New look and some thick black tights. It was comfy and cosy for the day, but I wish I had realised how big I looked in the morning rather than spending all day like this :(

Oh well, what have you been wearing this week? Xx

WIWT - All Black Stars

I'm channelling my inner angry teenager today, I never normally wear block colour but I fancied wearing all black, must be this windy weather on my mood.

A lot of my current go to outfits have revolved around these boots. I've wanted a set of cut out boots for ages, dreamed about the Topshop Audrey boots but alas, they were always out of stock. Last time I was in New Look I picked up these boots as they were the perfect mix of chunky but not too ugly. I love the gold buckles in the sides, plus the cut out detail isn't too obvious. Their fairly flat form esque so you do get some height bonus.

I teamed it with my black quilted pleather skirt from New Look as I love this so much. I will probable never be able to squeeze my bum into real leather so pleather is fine. The quilted pattern makes it very versatile, dress it up with a shirt for work or chuck on a jumper for a more relaxed look.

Added to this, I've got my trusty Primark stars jumper from last year. Lily from Llymlrs wore this recently and I remembered that I had one as well so out it came. Paired with thick, black tights, this is a super snuggly outfit. I wore this last week to work & the kids loved it so I wore it again yesterday for a family roast dinner - perfect for hiding a food baby!

I quite enjoy wearing all black, might start experimenting with black/white combos for Autumn, especially with my boots! Xx

WIWT - Daddy I Want A Pony

I was having a conversation with the lovely Cat from What Cat Says about how when we have time to take outfit pictures it usually the weekend and all we're wearing is a cartoon T-shirt & jeans. We both said if we that we should take pictures and blog it - so as I was wearing my favourite cartoon tee, I thought I would take pictures.

I've always wanted a pony and so when I saw this top in Primark last year I had to pick it up. I loved My Little Pony as a kid and its still awesome now. Its just a simple green top but it works for a casual day. My jeans are skinny jeans from New Look, I need some new ones but can never find jeans that I like.

We went out to a local deli for tea and cake so I chucked on a chunky knit cardi, again from Primark to keep warm. I need some more chunky knits for this winter - any recommendations?

I'm ashamed to admit this but I chucked on my tall UGG boots as my feet were cold, although I've discovered that they have a hole in and I'm a tad distressed.

I wore this last Sunday, its not stylish at all but its comfy and I don't look like a whale in it. What do you wear at the weekend? xx

A/W wardrobe update - New Look & Topshop

Afternoon lovelies, so this is the last Friday before I head back to school, that means that autumn and winter starts to set in very quickly, so my wardrobe needs a little update.

 New Look - £22.99

First up, I picked up these jeans as I loved the colour, their a cross between blue and green, with a lot of black (really bad description!)Their not quite as thick as jeans, but not quite jeggings, but its rare I like something in a skinny fit (hello thunder thighs!) however I think they hit the grunge trend quite nicely, and I will be wearing them a lot over the autumn! Great for £22.99

Topshop - £55.00

Next up I have this faux-leather jacket from Topshop. I've been umming and awwing about a new jacket for a while, but couldn't commit to a real leather jacket. So browsing the Topshop site, I fell for this jacket, and so popped online and picked it up from the Tall range. Although its a tall, it still sits just above my hips, plus the sleeves are a tad long but I will love it no doubt. This was £55.00, something I can't wait to wear more

New Look - £69.99

Finally, like many others I've lusted over the Office Nighthawk's (£80!) as well as the Topshop Alvin's (£90!!) but couldn't justify them, so when I saw these online at New Look, I knew they would be mine. These are real leather, so totally worth the £69.99 that I paid for them, and I will wear them lots and lots and lots :D

I can't wait to get wearing these bits, do you want to see outfit post? What are your picks for autumn? xx

New Look - stay-cation outfits

Evening lovelies, hope your well and enjoying the weekend - at this moment I'm up north at my parents house for a mini 'stay-cation' whilst they go abroad.

As some people might no, the boy and I are currently saving for our own place, and this means that some things have to be sacrificed, and one of those things in a summer holiday abroad  So this year we're having lots of little mini holidays in different parts of the UK.

Just because I'm not going abroad doesn't mean I can't splash out on some nice outfits, and New Look is one of my favourite places for stocking up on some nice bits.

Outfit 1 -
Black & White Cross Print Skirt - New Look
Cameo Rose White Heart T-Shirt - New Look
Glitter Wellies - New Look
Skeleton Necklace - New Look
Sun Glasses - New Look

One of my favourite things to do when I'm somewhere new is to go off exploring, especially if there is some countryside to walk through. Last weekend we were in North Wales and this outfit would have been perfect for walking around Portmerrion and Conway as the weather was great, but could have turned at any moment. This could also be worn to a festival as the wellies are super cute - I can feel that I need to own these for winter!

Outfit 2 -
White and Blue Tie Dye Playsuit - New Look
Purple Laceup Hi-Tops - New Look
Sunglasses - New Look

My second outfit is something that could be worn when the weather was a bit warmer but would look ace rocking it along Skegness pier  especially on the Dance Machine or the 2p machines! I love the idea of playsuits, and this one would be so easy to update to be dip dyed as well! I'm loving the hi-tops as well at the moment - I live in mine from New Look even though they are falling apart not (they are ancient!)

It would be so easy to mix these items together and add the skirt to the playsuit to give the tucked in denim shirt look which is great, and then for autumn, update the playsuit with some studs on the collar and some tights and boots.

As ever, New Looks clothing is great for the transitional seasons at the moment - so why not enjoy a stay-cation this summer with New Look and the UK!

What do you think?
